On behalf of the International Union of Scientists (IUS), we lend our unwavering support to the student-led protests taking place in various universities across the USA, Europe, and other parts of the globe, condemning the ongoing genocide in Gaza, demanding an immediate permanent ceasefire and calling on the university authorities to disclose and divest their investments in companies and organizations linked to Israel. We stand in solidarity with students, scholars, and faculties who are raising their voices against the grave human rights violations and advocating for an end to the violence.

We strongly condemn the brutal crackdown by police and university administrations and indiscriminate arrests of students and faculties supporting or participating in the peaceful protests. Such actions trample upon the rights of peaceful demonstrators and undermine the principles of democracy and freedom of expression.

We call on the scientists of the world to voice their condemnation of the genocide in Gaza, and to demand the protection of their right to free speech and freedom of action.

We join the student protesters in opposing all military, economic, and political support to Israel, which exacerbates the conflict and perpetuates the suffering and killings of innocent civilians in Gaza and occupied Palestine. This support enables continued violence and impedes efforts towards a just and lasting peace in the region.

As scientists committed to pursuing truth and justice, we rise against militarism and the destructive use of science and technology. We call for an immediate cessation of military aid to Israel and urge all parties involved to prioritize dialogue, diplomacy, and non-violent means of conflict resolution. It is imperative that we work together to address the root causes of the conflict and strive for a future where all people can live in dignity and peace.
